SPAA announces award winners

The SMSF Professionals’ Association of Australia (SPAA) announced the winners of its annual industry awards on the final day of the organisation’s 2014 national conference in Brisbane last month.

The association handed out six awards in total for industry practitioners, with the first being the Educator Excellence Award, which went to Heffron SMSF Solutions. This accolade was to recognise Heffron’s excellence in facilitating and providing education.

Yan Huang from Hills Rogers Spencer Steer won the SSA Top Achiever Award for achieving the highest examination score in pursuit of the SMSF Specialist Adviser (SSA) accreditation.

The SSAud Top Achiever Award was presented to Darren Ziser from Ziser for achieving the highest examination score in the 2013 SMSF Specialist Auditor (SSAud) program.

The Best Practice Award went to Quantum Financial’s Tim Mackay in recognition of providing the best SMSF advice across the industry both on a personal and professional level.

The CEO Scholarship Award is bestowed upon a SPAA member looking to enhance their sector knowledge through further postgraduate education, with the 2013 winner being Joanne Antcliff from Ross Buchannan.

Finally, Keep It Simple Super’s Julie Taylor won the Chairman’s Award for her outstanding contribution to SPAA and the SMSF sector in general throughout 2013.
