Westover takes on PwC role

Former Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) head of superannuation Liz Westover has been appointed as PwC Private Clients director, as part of its plans to bolster its SMSF practice.

Westover, who commences her role on Monday, will be responsible for developing SMSF-specific services for the growing number of PwC clients gravitating to the sector.

The latest ATO statistics reveal Australia now has more than 557,000 SMSFs with total assets of $590 billion.

“Our SMSF practice has grown in line with the rapid sector growth over the past few years and the time is right to invest in our capability in this area,” PwC Private Clients partner Naree Brooks said.

“Liz has an outstanding track record in the superannuation industry and in SMSFs in particular.

“I can’t think of anyone better to join our vibrant, expert team into the future as we continue to grow this part of our business.

“SMSF services are a natural and complementary offering to PwC’s Private Clients’ core service offering, which includes tax and business services, family advisory and wealth services.”

Westover said she was delighted to be taking on this important portfolio with PwC Private Clients and strengthening its service offering for Australians who were looking for independent expertise with their SMSFs.

Westover departed CAANZ on 4 November after six years with the body.
