Audit firms to merge

Adelaide-based SMSF audit firm ASF Audits has announced it will merge with fellow independent SMSF audit firm Super Auditors, bringing the combined number of SMSFs serviced under the new business to more than 12,000.

Super Auditors director Shelley Banton will join the ASF Audits management team as technical services executive general manager and will be based in Newcastle, New South Wales.

An ASF spokesperson told selfmanagedsuper: “There will be a period where the merger takes effect and the businesses combined will now be servicing over 12,000 self-managed super funds.

“In the medium term, all funds will be migrated to the ASF Audits portal and the Super Auditors portal will be decommissioned.

“We will give our customers plenty of notice of this change and with the combined strength of the new business we’re looking forward to a very smooth transition.

“All key staff at Super Auditors were offered roles at ASF; a couple have decided to pursue other opportunities, so we wish them all the very best.”

ASF Audits managing director Richard Smith said the firm was delighted to welcome Banton and Super Auditors clients to ASF.

“There is a great deal of synergy between the two firms and we share a vision for the future based on independence, technology and, importantly, customer service,” Smith said.

Banton, a widely sought after technical specialist and industry commentator, said it had been an exciting time and she was looking forward to working with ASF.

“I have known Richard for many years and have always been impressed by his approach to business, so when the opportunity arose to merge the firms, it was an easy decision,” she said.

ASF Audits has over 20 years’ experience working with large administrators, small to mid-tier accounting firms and financial advisers.

Super Auditors has been operating since 2007.
